Privacy Policy

Your trust matters. This policy explains what information we collect when you use SolderHub, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Effective date: May 26, 2026 · Last updated: June 7, 2026

1. Who we are

SolderHub ("SolderHub," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website and services at solderhub.com (the "Service"). We are based in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India.

For privacy-related questions or to exercise your rights, contact us at privacy@solderhub.com or through our Contact page.

2. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to information we collect through the Service, including when you browse projects, create or administer an account, submit content, subscribe to our newsletter, or interact with embedded tools such as Wokwi simulations.

Third-party websites and services linked from SolderHub (for example, GitHub, Discord, or YouTube) have their own privacy practices. We encourage you to review their policies before sharing information with them.

3. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account data — Name, email address, username, password (stored in hashed form), and profile details you choose to add.
  • Creator submissions — Project titles, descriptions, schematics, code snippets, images, YouTube video links, and metadata you upload or share through Submit Project, Submit Article, or admin tools.
  • YouTube content— When creators share their YouTube video links with us, we embed those videos on our platform. We do not download, copy, or host YouTube videos — we only embed them using YouTube's official embed API. View counts and engagement remain on YouTube's platform.
  • Communications — Content of emails or messages you send to support, privacy, or partnership addresses.
  • Newsletter — Email address when you subscribe to updates (you may unsubscribe at any time).

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data — Pages viewed, links clicked, search queries, simulation interactions, and approximate session duration.
  • Device & log data — IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, device type, country, and timestamps stored in server logs and our database for analytics, security, and debugging.
  • Analytics — We use Vercel Analytics and internal analytics tools to understand how visitors use our Service. These tools collect anonymized usage data. See Section 8 for more details.
  • Cookies & similar technologies — See Section 8 below.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive categories of personal data (such as health, biometric, or government ID numbers).

4. Legal basis for storing data

We have a legitimate legal basis to store and process data under applicable laws including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDPA), and internationally under GDPR principles:

  • User consent — By creating an account or submitting content, you explicitly consent to our data practices as described in this policy.
  • Contractual necessity — We need certain data to provide the Service you requested.
  • Legitimate interests — Analytics, security, spam prevention, and platform improvement.
  • Legal obligation — When law requires retention or disclosure of data.

Creator content (articles, projects, YouTube embeds) is stored with the creator's explicit permission when they submit to our platform. Creators retain full ownership of their content and may request removal at any time.

5. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
  • Authenticate users and secure accounts
  • Display, moderate, and improve community-submitted projects and articles
  • Embed and showcase creator YouTube videos to drive more views to their channels
  • Respond to support requests and enforce our Terms of Service
  • Send administrative notices, security alerts, and (with consent) newsletters
  • Analyze aggregated usage to improve content, performance, and accessibility
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect against fraud or abuse

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your email for third-party advertising without your explicit consent.

6. Creator content & YouTube embedding

When creators voluntarily submit their projects or articles to SolderHub:

  • Ownership — Creators retain full ownership of their content, code, schematics, and videos at all times.
  • YouTube videos— We embed YouTube videos using YouTube's official iframe embed API. We do not host, download, or mirror any video content. All video data remains on YouTube's servers.
  • Credit — All submitted content is published with full credit to the creator and a link to their YouTube channel.
  • Removal — Creators may request removal of their content at any time by emailing contact@solderhub.com. We will remove it within 7 business days.
  • No commercial exploitation— We do not monetize creator content directly. Any platform revenue (e.g. sponsorships) comes from our platform's overall audience, not from selling individual creator data or content.

7. How we share information

We may share information in these limited circumstances:

  • Service providers — Hosting (Vercel), database (Supabase), analytics tools, and email delivery partners who process data on our instructions under confidentiality obligations.
  • Embedded partners — When you open a Wokwi simulation or YouTube embed, that provider may receive technical data according to their own policy.
  • Public content — Projects and articles you publish are visible to all visitors with your chosen author name and channel credit.
  • Legal & safety — When required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety of the Service.
  • Business transfers — In connection with a merger or acquisition, subject to continued protection of your data.

We never sell your data to third parties or advertisers.

8. Cookies & analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies for:

  • Essential operation — Session management, authentication, and security
  • Preferences — Theme (light/dark) and display settings
  • Analytics — Vercel Analytics and internal analytics tools collect anonymized visit data to help us understand usage patterns and improve the Service

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Where local law requires consent for non-essential cookies, we will request it before enabling those technologies.

9. Advertising

SolderHub does not currently serve third-party advertising. When we do, this section will apply: we plan to use Google AdSense to display ads. Google and its partners may use cookies (including the DoubleClick/DART cookie) to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info. This section will be updated with the specific date advertising begins.

10. Data retention

We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required by law.

  • Account data — Until you delete your account, plus a short backup window
  • Analytics logs — Typically up to 90 days
  • Support emails — Up to 24 months unless you request earlier deletion
  • Published creator content — Remains live while the creator is active; removed within 7 business days of a removal request

11. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures — including encryption in transit (HTTPS), Supabase Row Level Security, access controls, and hashed credentials — to protect your information. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact support@solderhub.com immediately.

12. Children

SolderHub is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact admin@solderhub.com and we will delete it promptly.

13. Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access a copy of personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete your data (subject to legal exceptions)
  • Restrict or object to certain processing
  • Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based
  • Request removal of your submitted content
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

To make a request, email admin@solderhub.com. We aim to respond within 30 days.
